When stools are loose, watery, mushy or shapeless, it is referred as loose stools. Loose stools experienced frequently over 2-3 days is referred to as diarrhoea. This condition is generally not very serious and is easily treatable using OTC medicines. Frequent passage of watery stools and inadequate in take of water can cause dehydration. Diarrhoea is also a part of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
Treatment of Diarrhoea & Loose Stools
Diarrhoea can be treated through simple OTC drugs or in severe cases requires intervention by a gastroenterologist or a general physician to combat loose stools and dehydration through intravenous drugs and fluids.
